How Andropause Treatment Works

Considering andropause therapy, but are unsure if you should proceed? The process is relatively straightforward, and you don’t have too much to do on your end. It’s a multi-step process, but most of it falls on us. And we make getting treatment as easy and convenient for you as possible.

01.

Step one

Step one

Take a personal assessment of how you’re feeling. Self-evaluate your energy levels, drive for life, and satisfaction with your love life. Consider if you’re having any mood changes, hot flashes, or muscle loss. If you’re noticing changes, please contact us to determine if the cause is your hormones.

02.

step two

step two

The next step is to have your consultation. It’s essentially a meet-and-greet that allows our practitioner to get to know you, your health, and the issues you’re experiencing. You’ll need to answer questions about how well you sleep and whether you’re experiencing common symptoms of a testosterone decrease.

03.

step three

step three

If our practitioner feels like your symptoms could be from andropause, the next step is to confirm that suspicion using a blood test that reveals your free and bound testosterone levels. The results may indicate that you need to replenish your level to improve your symptoms.

04.

step four

step four

During this step, our practitioner will discuss which form of testosterone would best suit your life. For instance, would you rather take something daily? Or would it be easier if you had injections or pellets that only require visits to the office occasionally? We’ll review your options and the benefits of each to help you make an informed decision.

05.

step five

step five

Once it’s time to get your treatment, we may send it home with you along with instructions on how to take it, including the frequency. On the other hand, if you receive pellet or injection therapy, you’ll receive it in the office.

For pellet therapy, our practitioner will administer a local anesthetic first and then make a small incision in either one of your buttocks or a hip. Then, the pellets are placed.

Ultimately, our practitioner will close the incision with stitches. The pellets then release over time to raise your testosterone.

For injectable andropause treatment, our practitioner will administer the injection, and you can return home immediately after.

06.

You’ll need to wait to see the results. You’ll need to return for subsequent visits, even if you’re not receiving therapy that requires you to visit our practitioner for administration. At these times, we may need to adjust your treatment to better accommodate you

Signs & Symptoms

Andropause Treatment might be your best chance at feeling invigorated and like the man you used to be before your hormones started decreasing. But if you’re unsure if it’s a feasible option for you, it’s helpful to assess your symptoms at home and decide if getting your level checked is in your best interest. These are some of the common issues that could signify you could use andropause treatment :

Loss of Motivation

You could feel like you don’t want to do much. You may no longer set goals and try to achieve them, both professionally and in your home life. Trying to get started on a project might seem like a major feat.

Decreased Sex Drive

When you were younger, you might not have been able to get enough. However, once your testosterone started decreasing, sex may have become the last thing on your mind. Even if you still desire it, the mood may strike a lot less frequently.

Fatigue

Often chalked up to living a busy life, fatigue is a common symptom of andropause. With this concern, you may feel tired frequently, even on nights when you get a full night of rest. It happens because testosterone influences your energy levels.

Mood Changes

While you might look at testosterone as a hormone related to your sex drive and muscle mass, it also affects your mood. For instance, it affects the neurotransmitters in the brain that play a role in determining your emotional state. Once your testosterone level decreases, you might feel anxious, depressed, or irritable. You might shift moods frequently.

Muscle Loss

Testosterone plays a significant role in influencing muscle mass, strength, and recovery. Therefore, when a decrease happens, you may have a reduction in muscle mass and strength. Even if you hit the gym regularly, you still won’t be able to rebuild it.

Brain Fog

As testosterone levels lower, you might battle with anxiety and/or depression, which can both affect sleep. For some people, sleep disturbances occur, which can affect brain function because the brain needs that rest to reset and repair. That’s not considering that testosterone has an impact on the brain.

All of these reasons can cause you to be less mentally sharp than you once were. You might struggle with memory at times, or you could also experience difficulty when you try to concentrate.

FAQs

If you’re looking for andropause treatment, consider hormone replacement therapy. This treatment increases your testosterone level until it’s in the normal range and you receive symptom relief.

One of the more common symptoms of andropause is fatigue. You might also experience a decreased sex drive, erectile dysfunction, mood swings, less motivation, and a reduction in muscle mass. You may experience difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, and trouble concentrating or struggling with memory are also possible.

The only way to check testosterone levels and receive an accurate reading is to go to a practitioner who provides blood tests to assess hormone levels. They’ll check both your free and bound testosterone.

Not every man will experience andropause with symptoms. Some men’s hormone levels decrease, and they don’t notice much of a difference, or the issues that do arise aren’t major problems. However, if you want to be proactive, it could help to start andropause treatment early, before you start to have symptoms. It will then be less of a shock when symptoms start to arise, if they do.

While a number of issues could be to blame, you might want to look into your testosterone level first. A low level can cause you to feel fatigued despite sleeping regularly. And low levels can also lead to sleep disturbances. Anxiety and depression are possible as well, and these can affect sleep.
